Mental health of the young people
Mental Health is yet another pandemic which has reached an alarming level.
Silently It is highly spreading and the most affected are the Adolescents and Youths between
13 and 25 years of age, the majority are in school while their mental illnesses are not
detected, the number of suicide cases is raising in different schools and Communities, more
signs of Behavioral Change and Moral Decay are revealed.
Adolescents and Youths are considered a high-risk, this affects family, community and the
whole country, in economic, social and psychological consequences for everyone involved.
Many are often at risk of dropping out of school, developing depression, suffering from
financial difficulties and may need more support in their transition to adulthood.
there is a need of an urgency to call for suitable solutions, serious sensitization programs to
solve the growing challenges of mental illness in Uganda.
- Lack of funds to support mental health projects
- Lack of mental awareness programs and campaign.
Break the Silence is the name of the program to promote mental health among the youths.
